The Bedsrcmcc use the I-LapRC race timing system for accurate lap counting

The club uses a fully automated lap counting system for accurately timing laps. As well as the computer-based software that provides members with full race reports printed off after each race, the Bedsrcmcc have now invested in the I-LapRC that uses Personal Transponders on each car so that accurate timing of all drivers laps is now recorded via the computer race software. Although other alternatives are available, the club have chosen I-LapRC for it's members based upon the great value that this system offers to the club.

Information about the new I-LapRC system

The club has invested in this optical lap counting system which requires all cars racing to have a transponder attached to the car and the club offers the Personal Transponders to purchase at £35 each. Alternatively, new and occasional drivers can hire one of the transponders for just £2 per night. We would strongly advise that all members obtain their own unique Personal Transponder which can be purchase at any race meeting.

The I-LapRC system has many benefits including:

  • Works with any scale of radio controlled model
  • Each transponder has a unique seven digit ID number
  • Unlimited number of vehicles can be on the track at once
  • High Frequency signals eliminate any and all interference

Simple installation into your RC car

Step 1 for installing the I-LapRC personal transponder

Step 1
Attach your transponder using supplied Velcro in a position where it can see up through the window or other clear portion of the body shell. The transponder works through some paints and RTR bodies though we recommend all members to run with clear windscreens when ever possible.

Step 2 for installing the I-LapRC personal transponder

Step 2
Connect your transponder to an open slot in the vehicle's receiver. Make sure to use the same polarity as your other attached cables. Do not plug your transponder into the RPM, TEMP or LAP ports on Spektrum telemetry receivers.

Step 3 - Correct installion of the the I-LapRC personal transponder

Step 3
This is a proper installation. The transponder is mounted level under the windscreen, making sure there are no wires or other obstructions above the infrared emitter.

NOTE: The infrared emitter is the gold coloured component directly below the middle of the serial number that's printing on the transponder. The transponder's red LED will blink when the transponder is active.
